Bethel, CT. March 4th race
1st race of the year for me. There was only one field for women in Bethel, so I was forced to race with pros. I knew it would be a challenge and a great workout. It was cold cold cold! My knees were achey before the race even started, but I was determined to race. The couse was a circuit with easy turns and one short climb at the finish. The pace was fast from the first lap and there were numerous attacks that didn't stick. I helped chase down one breakaway, but pretty much just tried to stay safe and conserve energy. We raced for 40 minutes and then 5 laps. The last laps were painful and my knees were very unhappy. I got boxed out in the final sprint and placed 14th. I wasn't too disappointed since I was using this race as training. My goal was to stay with the main field and not get dropped, so I did at least accomplish that.
