Empire State Games- Day #1, July 2007

The first day of the ESG. My two teammates were Martha from Metro and Beth from Comedy Central. We were given our bright orange team NYC jerseys and warmed up on our trainers under some nice man's tent. It was hot and sunny, so the white tent's shade was great.

The ITT course was too flat for my liking. They had set it up so that you would turn 3 times on the course. Everything was going fine until I passed the start line going into the last turn. A rider had come out of the start gate and passed me. This was OK, until she slowed down to take the turn. She took the turn so painfully slow that I thought I would need to unclip. Really!

After the turn, I powered to the line and sprinted the best I could. I was pissed. Why would you make such an effort to get ahead of someone going into a turn if you are just going to hit your brakes all the way through it?

I finished 3rd, giving the NYC team their first medal.
